Kali Uchis a été célébrée comme « the most exciting voice to come out of Virginia since Missy Elliott ». Cette chanteuse de 23 ans, qui compte Snoop Dogg et A$AP ROCKY parmi ses fans, s’est offert en 2015 un premier EP « Por Vida » avec des prods signées Tyler, The Creator, Kaytranada, BADBADNOTGOOD ou encore Caleb Stone. Aujourd’hui, elle revient avec un premier album, qui brasse allègrement les genres. Kali y creuse le sillon doo-wop de « Por Vida » mais réussit, dans la foulée, à créer un sound bien à elle.
