Spiritual roots reggae (dopé au jazz halluciné) !
Le reggae de Groundation est quasi unique en son genre. Ça on le sait à l'AB depuis leur concert remarqué au printemps 2008. Leur musique tonique et pleine de bon sens a également répandu ses largesses à l'occasion des plus chouettes festivals du pays. Et ceux qui ont eu l'occasion d'assister à leur hommage à Bob Marley au Petrol à Anvers n'ont pas fini d'en parler.
Cette année verra encore la parution de 'The Gathering of The Elders', une compilation extrêmement soignée qui fait la part belle aux anciens du reggae. Pour la sortie du nouvel opus qui devrait s'intituler 'Building The Ark', il faudra attendre mars 2012.
En dehors des paroles constructives et des titres aux allures de professions de foi, Groundation c'est aussi une histoire enrobée de vibes ultra positives. Si le fond est foncièrement reggae, l'approche, elle, est particulièrement jazzy (surtout en live).
Groundation est né en Californie à la fin du siècle dernier. Le système organisationnel auquel son nom fait référence prend le contre-pied du modèle hiérarchique. Le titre de leur premier album 'Each One Teach One' en dit également long sur l'esprit du groupe. La discographie de Groundation s'est depuis enrichie de six albums dont les plus récents sont 'Dub Wars' et 'Upon The Bridge'. On notera également la naissance, dans l'intervalle, du fantastique projet Rockamovya qui avait manqué de peu l'AB.
Le temps de la revanche a sonné, bien qu'on ne soit pas prêt d'entendre de tels propos dans la bouche de Groundation. On parlera plutôt d'inspiration, de création, d'éducation, d'exaltation ou encore d'élévation.
