◄◄ REWIND
En 2007, l’AB lançait un tout nouveau cycle de concerts intitulé ◄◄ REWIND. Dans le cadre de ce cycle atemporel, des artistes belges viennent rejouer sur scène l’intégrale d’un de leurs classiques. Un disque ayant marqué un tournant dans leur carrière, quand il n’est pas tout simplement devenu une véritable référence en matière de rock national. Il s’agit pour la plupart -mais pas seulement- d’albums inscrits dans la mémoire collective, une sorte de jalons du paysage musical belge. Une série d'artistes viennent ainsi, chaque année, nous interpréter leur pièce maîtresse dans son intégralité, en respectant l'ordre des plages qu’ils avaient adopté à l'époque.
Avec ◄◄ REWIND, l’AB contribue à la perpétuation du patrimoine musical belge. Au cours des saisons précédentes, nous avons eu l’occasion de réentendre les classiques ‘Royalty In Exile’ de The Scabs, ‘Gorky' par Gorki ,‘1981-1984’ de The Neon Judgement, ‘The Kids’ par The Kids, le ‘Nooit Meer Drinken’ de Raymond Van Het Groenewoud, le ‘Op Zoek Naar Romantiek’ de Guido Belcanto ainsi que le ‘Jonge Helden’ d'Arbeid Adelt !.
Lors de la dernière livrée, De Mens nous a offert son brillant premier album ‘De Mens’ ('92), Luc Van Acker a repris ‘The Ship’ ('84) et Wim Mertens a réinterprété son mésestimé ‘Struggle For Pleasure’ ('83). Nous ajoutons aujourd'hui à cette série ‘Une Ball Dans La Tête’ ('95) de De Puta Madre, soit le premier véritable album de hip-hop paru en Belgique.
En hommage à leur contribution à la musique belge, ils se verront récompenser – au même titre que leurs prédécesseurs – par la pause officielle d'une dalle dans la rue des Pierres qui jouxte l'AB.
◄◄ REWIND: DE PUTA MADRE plays ‘Une ball dans la tête’ (1995)
Le groupe de rap bruxellois rejoue l'intégralité de son premier album
ALLÉGATION N°1: ‘Une Ball Dans La Tête’ de De Puta Madre est le premier véritable album de hip-hop à être sorti en Belgique. Rien que pour ça, l'album mérite son statut de pilier de l'histoire musicale belge. Le fait que l'album n'ait pas pris une ride ne fait que renforcer ce sentiment. Petite précision historique : le premier album de ’t Hof Van Commerce (‘En In Izzegem’) et l'album éponyme de Starflam ne sont sortis qu'en '98.
ALLÉGATION N°2: De Puta Madre est, en prime, le premier groupe francophone à participer à la série ◄◄ REWIND.
Originaire de Schaarbeek, De Puta Madre peut être compté parmi les architectes du hip-hop belge. Si le nom espagnol du groupe pourrait se traduire littéralement par « putain de ta mère », il signifie aussi « du tonnerre » en argot hispanique. Derrière ce trio, se cachaient MC Rayer, le graffeur et styliste Pee Gonzalez, qui vit désormais à Madrid, et Dj Smimooz. Leur combinaison entre rap français et rap espagnol était tout bonnement unique.
Leur premier album ‘Une ball dans la tête’, est paru en 1995 et a fait l'effet d'une bombe dans le milieu du rap belge. En plus d'être le premier véritable album de hip-hop sorti en Belgique, ses origines underground n'ont fait que rendre son histoire encore plus marquante. De Puta Madre gérait alors son propre label indépendant 9mm Recordz sur lequel allaient paraître, par la suite, divers projets solo des membres du crew. Autre fait unique : De Puta Madre a également travaillé – par delà la frontière linguistique – avec le génie flamand des platines Dj Grazzhoppa.
Était-ce l'air du temps ? De nombreux classiques hip-hop sont sortis, à la même époque, sur le marché international : ‘Illmatic’ de Nas ( '94), ‘Doggystyle’ de Snoop Dogg (’93), ‘Midnight Marauders’ de A Tribe Called Quest (’93) et ‘36 Chambers’ de Wu-Tang Clan (’93). En Belgique, Rhyme Cut Core venait tout juste de sortir son premier maxi hip-hop (‘Raw Break/At The Crossroads’). Les premiers albums de Starflam et de ’t Hof Van Commerce allaient, pour leur part, paraître quelques années plus tard.
De Puta Madre avait également ses adeptes en Flandre et a même été deux fois à l'affiche du Pukkelpop (en '96 et en '00). Son deuxième album, ‘Technik Stonik’, est paru en '99 et se révélait nettement plus rêche que son premier effort aux tendances jazzy.
