Une pop folk onirique de haut vol ... de Minneapolis
Ce fut une trĂšs belle dĂ©couverte lors des Nuits Botanique au printemps 2011. Servi par une orchestration acoustique, Dark Dark Dark nous avait livrĂ© un concert de toute beautĂ© dans le cadre intime du MusĂ©e. Les plages interprĂ©tĂ©es par le quintette de Minneapolis Ă©taient alors essentiellement tirĂ©es du deuxiĂšme album 'Wild Goâ (que l'on peut aussi trouver augmentĂ© de l'EP âBright Bright Brightâ ), une sĂ©rie de titres variĂ©s oĂč la voix de Nona Marie Invie ne fait qu'un avec leur trĂšs qualitative pop folk.
Marshall LaCount est l'autre compositeur du groupe, aux cĂŽtĂ©s de Nona Marie. Ensemble, ils parviennent Ă concilier des influences aussi diverses que la musique minimaliste, le folk d'Europe de l'Est, le jazz de la Nouvelle-OrlĂ©ans, l'americana et la pop. Pour âWild Goâ, le groupe s'est adjoint les services du producteur Tom Herbers qui avait dĂ©jĂ collaborĂ© auparavant avec The Jayhawks et Low.
Un ukulélé, un banjo, un piano jouet, un kazoo et un glockenspiel. On entend tout cela chez le trio parisien We Were Evergreen. Leurs textes parlent de yacks qui jodlent, d'enfants qui s'envolent pour le sud en hiver et d'arbres qui grandissent trop vite. « Ukulélé, piano au compte-gouttes et pingouin malicieux illuminent cette petite rengaine aussi naïve qu'addictive ». Ce concert s'inscrit dans le cadre du projet âMinneapolis, Mon Amourâ que l'AB a mis sur pied pour la saison 2011-2012. Cette sĂ©rie de concerts dĂ©diĂ©e au patrimoine musical de la mĂ©tropole amĂ©ricaine nous permet de cĂ©lĂ©brer comme il se doit les 30 ans de âSorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trashâ, le premier opus du groupe de rock amĂ©ricain The Replacements. L'AB s'empare de ce vĂ©ritable pilier de l'histoire du rock pour, entre autres, prĂ©senter les concerts des vĂ©tĂ©rans The Jayhawks et Grant Hart, ainsi que des nouveaux venus comme Howler et Dark Dark Dark.
