Un jeune Anglais sur les traces de Nick Drake et Damien Rice
Ce jeune singer-songwriter anglais n'a que 21 ans et il porte dĂ©jĂ un nom empli de majestĂ© : Benjamin Francis Leftwitch. Sa voix d'ange devrait bientĂŽt faire fondre les cĆurs d'Europe continentale. Parmi ses influences, il cite Arcade Fire, Ryan Adams et Bruce Springsteen mais ses singles âPicturesâ, âBox Of Stonesâ et âAtlas Handsâ font plutĂŽt penser Ă Nick Drake et Elliott Smith.
Son premier album 'Last Smoke before the Snowstorm', qui est dĂ©jĂ sorti depuis un certain temps en Angleterre, verra enfin le jour chez nous cette annĂ©e. The Sunday Times en disait : "a serious new talentâ et le magazine musical The Fly parlait de âa majestic debutâ. Il a dĂ©jĂ jouĂ© Ă Glastonbury et sera, cet automne, au festival Iceland Airwaves. Avec la venue de Big Harp, la soirĂ©e emmenĂ©e par Benjamin Francis Leftwich se transforme en vĂ©ritable double affiche. DerriĂšre ce groupe de LA, se cache le duo et couple formĂ© par Chris Senseney (chant, guitare, claviers) et Stefanie Drootin-Senseney (basse, chĆurs). Leur amour a non seulement donnĂ© naissance Ă un bĂ©bĂ© mais aussi Ă âWhite Hatâ, leur premier album sorti plus tĂŽt dans l'annĂ©e sur le trĂšs respectĂ© label Saddle Creek. Leurs influences vont puiser dans le folk et la country classiques dans lesquels ils injectent une bonne dose de rock. Townes Van Zandt, Nick Cave, Willie Nelson et Captain Beefheart ne sont jamais bien loin.
