Les Belle & Sebastian font un quasi sans faute : leur image, de superbes pochettes (souvent de très gracieuses jeunes femmes), une certaine frilosité vis-à-vis des médias et, mieux encore, des chansons pop superbes qui confinent vraiment à la perfection. C’est en 1996, à Glasgow, que Stuart Murdoch, figure de proue du groupe, fonde les B&S. Leurs albums « Tigermilk », « The Boy With The Arab Strap » et « Fold Your Hands Child,... » (avec les filles du groupe islandais Múm sur la pochette) sont devenus depuis des classiques. Leur album attendu avec impatience « Write about Love’ » (auquel a collaboré, entre autres Norah Jones), sort finalement en automne 2010, digne successeur de « The Life Pursuit », un album fort paru en 2006. Mais les B&S – petite parenthèse, leur nom est tiré d’une série télévisée de Cécile Aubry – ont aussi d’autres projets, en dehors de leur formation. A la mi-décembre, le groupe a ainsi co-organisé le UK Bowlie II (avec entre autres Dirty Projectors, ex-B&S-lid Isobel Campbell,…), successeur du Bowlie Weekender créé en 1999 et prédécesseur du All Tomorrow’s Parties. L’année dernière, le projet « God Help the Girl », « une comédie musicale improbable » – dixit le groupe – fait un tabac. L’heure de B&S III a donc sonné : à savoir le troisième passage des B&S à l’AB sur une période d'environ 10 ans. Pas mal finalement quand on sait que les B&S ne se produisent qu’avec parcimonie…
La première partie du concert sera assurée par les Ecossais de Zoey Van Goey. Ce quatuor indie pop a débuté en 07 avec le single 'Foxtrot Vandals’, produit par le frontman de Belle & Sebastian Stuart Murdoch. Au pays, on les décrit comme du 'Postal Service with a sense of humour'. Le groupe a depuis sorti deux albums et a eu l'occasion de jouer aux All Tomorrow’s Parties, en décembre 10, dans le cadre de l'édition programmée par – vous ne l'auriez pas deviné - Belle & Sebastian sous le nom de ‘Bowlie 2’.

BELLE & SEBASTIAN s'était déjà produit au Domino en '04, du temps de l'album ‘Dear Catastrophe Waitress’. ISOBEL CAMPBELL, anciennement membre du groupe, est ensuite revenue au Domino en '06, à l'occasion de la sortie de son très bel opus ‘Ballad Of The Broken Seas’. C'était hélas sans MARK LANEGAN, qui a, à son tour, triomphé au Domino avec THE GUTTER TWINS en '08 (même si GREG DULLI a dû quitter précipitamment la scène, au milieu du set, pour se rendre à l'hôpital pour cause de déshydratation). Quant aux deux soeurs du groupe islandais MÚM qui ornaient la pochette du 'Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant’ de Belle & Sebastian, elles ont fait leurs premiers pas au Domino à l'ABClub en '01, lors d'une soirée consacrée au label Fat Cat (qui reprenait également MICE PARADE et DUPLO REMOTE à l'affiche).
