The earth is not as bottomless as Mary Poppins’s bag: we can’t keep taking from it. Our resources are gradually running out. The good news? We can do something about it!
Together with Recupel and Black Box Revelation, we’re looking for at least 3000 old (smart)phones. The plan is simple: you exchange your old devices for tickets to an exclusive Black Box Revelation concert or concert vouchers, while Recupel recovers and recycles the raw materials in an environmentally friendly way with local and specialised processors.
Win-win, because let’s be honest: otherwise all of those cracked screens would simply keep gathering dust in your drawer.
What do I get in return?
For each device, you’ll receive a concert voucher worth €5. The more devices, the more concert vouchers! All tickets for the Black Box Revelation concert have already been handed out to the fastest recyclers.
Bring your old device to AB
How do you get rid of your old devices? Easy! Take them to AB next time you attend a concert and drop them in the Recupel collection box in the reception area. Or come by during our opening hours. You’ll receive your concert vouchers or tickets for the Black Box Revelation concert immediately.
Why is recycling so important?
Whether or not there’s noise coming from our stage, we get the message loud and clear: the planet is in trouble. We’re gradually exhausting our supplies of metals and minerals, so where are we going to get our raw materials? One answer is in our old smartphones, as they are more than 90% recyclable and contain many valuable materials such as platinum, gold, silver, palladium, and copper.
There are around 1.5 million old (smart)phones in Belgium. If we can recover all those materials from our towns and cities – i.e. urban mining – we can make a major difference with minimal effort! Coincidentally, Recupel has a talent for dismantling mobile phones and recycling metals and minerals from them.

So, it’s finally time to say goodbye to your old belongings and take better care of our planet. Also … have you never heard of the cloud? If you’re worried about the old texts that are still on it or don’t want to say goodbye to those photos of your ex: clean up your device first or have Recupel do it for you. No excuses.
