Practice Dutch while singing
Want to practise speaking Dutch? Duolingo can help, but do you also get familiar with Flemish culture through an app? Do you meet new friends who want to practise their Dutch too? No! Ditch the app on your phone and just come and sing with us during the Gelukkig Zijn Sessions.
Every month, we provide an upbeat pianist and a singer to accompany the group. After a drink to lubricate the vocal chords, together we sing well-known and lesser known Dutch-language songs. Lots of fun and free! Over the past few years, dozens of non-Dutch speakers have become more familiar with the Dutch language in a relaxed way in the De Gelukkig Zijn Sessions.
By the way, you don’t have to be an Ann Christy or Will Tura (impressive Flemish vocalists, some culture tips there already!): It’s not about vocal talent, it is about getting to know the language and practicing it in an enjoyable way. Because singing together creates a bond.
You will find us in a different community centre in Brussels every month. And with success, as pretty much every session was full of great and not-so-great singers.

Then we will dance!
The last Gelukkig Zijn Session of the year is invariably a party. Check out the report on such a closing party from a few years ago here.
Be sure to drop by, we’re expecting you!
