A genre-fluid festival for musical adventurers
BRDCST is AB’s annual multiple-day discovery festival and has been since 2016. The programme enjoys putting spoke in the wheel of musical algorithms. Our heartbeat is the indicator: if it goes up, a spot on the bill is assured. The result? At BRDCST we serve you only the keenest music of the moment. It is an open vision of the future of music.
BRDCST is the ideal antidote for paranoia & hysteria.

The festival’s name refers to the retro-futuristic electro-pop of British band Broadcast. Like the Birmingham-based band, all artists on the BRDCST bill guarantee musical innovation.
Some bigger names to have appeared alongside undiscovered gems at BRDCST and the you might well know? Altïn Gun, Autechre, Black midi, Jaimie Branch, James Holden, Jana Rush, Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein performing the music of ‘Stranger Things’ , Moor Mother, Nadah El Shazly, Obongjayar , Shabaka Hutchings, Sleaford Mods, Tom Skinner, The Necks, Tirzah,...
From Moroccan punk and futurist hip-hop to even Tuvan throat singing
BRDCST selects for you the best music that you’ve sometimes never even heard of. If you’re up for a journey of discovery, then the BRDCST Festival Pass is just the thing for you: a combi-ticket for all days of this musical High Mass!

So what can you expect? ‘For the concert of life, nobody receives a program’, are you familiar with this piece of folk wisdom? It also applies a bit to BRDCST. We can describe it, but you really just have to experience it. To paint a(n incomplete) picture, here are a few genres that have already passed in revue: avant-garde pow wow, Japanese folk, South African gqom, Gregorian chants, Turkish psychedelic music, grime, African black metal, Chicago footwork, transcendental jazz, contemporary classical, improv, layered electronica, …
We break out of musical pigeon holes and also out of our very own AB. During BRDCST, we have previously organised magical concerts in the Church of Our Lady of the Rich Clares and at our great neighbours De Beursschouwburg.

"I have once again discovered many new names that I will often listen to back home. What will stick with me most are the concerts in the church. What a wonderful location and acoustics.”

“The programming was again surprising, challenging and stunning. They were all compelling artists that you did justice to by putting them in the right place at the right time. I have once again discovered many new names that I will often listen to back home. What will stick with me most are the concerts in the church. What a wonderful location and acoustics. It really did add an extra dimension to the performances I saw there. And so close to AB. Hopefully it can remain a part of BRDCST.” – a visitor to BRDCST 2024
We always stretch out the last day of BRDCST as long as possible, due to premature nostalgia. On that night, we program artists who help finish up our festival, this musical High Mass, with a bang. Hallelujah!
