Valerie June in early May in the Flex! This American Medusa and muze plays skillfully tight and touching guitar, banjo, ukulele and her own highly originally tuned vocal chords. Hails from Tennessee and grew up amongst more than enough misery, with fortunately also quite a bit of blues, soul, gospel, country-folk... all that rather American wealth of honest roots that you can now also hear in her music.
Her first time here was back in November '12, solo in Huis23, back then with her debut 'Pushing against a stone' (on which Dan-Black Keys-Auerbach also worked). In the meantime, there have been tours with Sharon Jones, Norah Jones, Jake Bugg... and she was even invited to The (then still very hospitable) White House by Michelle Obama.
Now there’s the CD 'The order of time' and we find this wonderful artist back on our stage again with her 'organic moonshine roots music' (and sometimes rather ‘desert blues’ sound).
