Raise your hand if you were at Lou Reed’s concert on 15 or 16 June 2012 at AB!
39 years earlier, in 1973, Reed recorded ‘Berlin’.
An ambitious album that featured a full-blown orchestral arrangement. After an array of praising reviews Reed and his producer Bob Ezrin were determined to turn it into a live show.
33 years later, in 2006, it finally happened: the 60-something Lou Reed assembled his band and together with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus they played 5 consecutive Berlin live shows at St. Ann’s Warehouse in New York.
On 19 May, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic album, our neighbours Cinema Palace are showing the documentary about those very concerts Reed performed in New York.
