To strengthen the programming team, we are looking for a passionate person to focus full-time on TALENT DEVELOPMENT and assist in supporting existing AB PROJECTS (f/m/x).
Ancienne Belgique is the vibrant music temple in the heart of Brussels. With around 400 concerts and more than 300,000 visitors per year, AB ranks among the top European concert venues. All this is managed by a motivated and professional team of more than 60 employees.
Job Description:
AB is looking for the perfect person to join the programming team. This person will work on talent development, fully participate in existing AB projects and ensure we’re a good musical neighbour for our befriended Brussels venues.
Your primary role is talent development. You do so by:
- helping shape our structural collaboration with Volta.
- following up artist residencies
- helping support the start-up and follow-up of the Sound Track music contest
- organising masterclasses and workshops
As a secondary task, you will help follow up on existing AB-projects and provide artistic content. Think: Outrageous, Belgian Music Week or the annual showcase festival FiftyLab, amongst others.
Finally, you ensure our good musical neighbourliness. You set up collaborations with befriended venues like Beursschouwburg, VK* or Super Fourchette, and you help to provide musical material to enrich the AB programme.
In the background – but equally essential – you manage the budgets allocated to you as a prudent and reasonable person; you act as a sounding board for the programming team and you also monitor the concert activities during evenings.
Profile:
- You have both a broad knowledge of (inter)national pop music and a feel for what is going on in Brussels’ musical communities.
- You’re good at assessing an artist’s (future) potential.
- You have a feel for the desires and needs of the Belgian concert audience.
- You have a thorough knowledge of the structure of the Belgian musical landscape (agents, record companies, managers,…)
- You are familiar with the administrative aspect of programming (costings, withholding tax on foreign artists’ fees, VAT regulations, …)
- You have experience with project management. You enjoy the challenge of working out a project from A to Z, getting your colleagues enthusiastic about it, and coordinating them.
- You are a driven networker both internationally and within the local scene.
- You have an open and positive communication style, and you can express yourself fluently in Dutch, French and English.
- You work proactively and can organise your work independently, but are equally a team player.
- You are assertive and have a convincing personality.
- You like to work result-oriented, but also process- and project-oriented.
- You are willing to regularly work evenings and weekends, and are motivated to prospect both at home and abroad.
Offer:
- A full-time contract of permanent employment.
- Remuneration according to the salary scale of PC 304.
- Reimbursement of travel on public transport between home and work, meal vouchers, groups- and hospital-insurance, 13th month, year-end bonus and numerous fringe benefits.
- Ample training opportunities.
- A challenging job, no Spotify-generated music, and great colleagues.
