After more than 42 years(!), sound collective Einstürzende Neubauten still sounds highly topical. So we’re more than looking forward to their two-dayer in June, on Saturday 18 (sold out) and Monday 20 June 2022 respectively.
Noteworthy: few international bands have such strong ties with AB. Neubauten has passed by AB no less than 10 times, good for more than 15,000 devoted fans. Neubauten has often celebrated their nth anniversary here with two-day events. Or marked the release of first-class albums like ‘Lament’, ‘Alles Wieder Offen’ or über classic ‘Silence Is Sexy’. AB even organised a series of concerts under the banner of the latter title, where a platform was offered to contemporary classical composers. In retrospect, that list is quite impressive looking – with concerts by the likes Ludovico Einaudi, Ryuichi Sakamoto w/ Alva Noto, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Nils Frahm, and A Winged Victory For The Sullen.
Enigmatic frontman Blixa Bargeld has also presented a number of fascinating collaborative projects here, with Alva Noto and Teho Teardo, amongst others. With Berlin’s minimal (avant garde) electronica-master Alva Noto, he formed the inspiring duo ANBB. With Italian composer Teho Teardo, he has twice worked on a song project in which he sang not only in English and German, but also in Italian.
The bond was sealed completely with ‘9-15-2000, Brussels’, an integral recording of the AB concert that Neubauten held here at the time of releasing ‘Silence Is Sexy’ (and it’s even Neubauten’s first official live-release).
Even a freshly sharpened hedge trimmer couldn’t cut the ‘Neubauten-AB’ umbilical cord. Fortunately, no one feels the need to do so.
Welcome back Bargeld & co!
