“The genie is out of the bottle.” That’s how Andri from FTRSND sums up the past year. Together with another start-up, M.E.W., they were able to make use of the space where the former AB Ticket Shop was located for free. Both projects experienced a year full of networking and experiment.
We were wondering what the two start-ups thought of the collaboration with AB. What initiatives have they put together? Do they look back on the time that they’ve spent with AB with pride? How’s the future looking for FTRSND and M.E.W.? AB-reporters Emily and Yne went looking for answers.
Sacha of M.E.W. was very enthusiastic. Thanks to AB, and together with Waldo, he was able to offer space for countless young artists to exhibit their work and get in touch with other creatives. The young man from Brussels already has plans for a new project: together with friends Astrid and Sayid, he wants to further expand M.EW.’s core concept – doing so under the name SPAAK and with international ambitions. The kick-off is planned for 2017. We’re certainly curious to see how it goes!
M.E.W. will be rounding up in style on June 22, with a show by 2 Times Nothing and a piping-hot DJ-set. You’ll be able to follow the night live via livestream, RSVP here on the Facebook Event.

Brice and Andri of FTRSND were full of praise for AB. Thanks to their year in the Steenstraat, they were able to provide many artists with networking opportunities and also made valuable contacts within the electronic music world themselves.
The FTRSND story doesn’t stop here. Quite the contrary: at one of the many “tribe drinks” (25!), they found a new space to further their project. At Make Brussels, the collective introduced their idea of organising a Brussels Electronic Music Marathon. The concept was received with enthusiasm and might very well see the light of day in the second part of this year. To be continued…

We’re sure that both start-ups have a bright future ahead of them and wish them lots of luck!
