In connection to the new concerts in the Silence Is Sexy series, there is a micro-exhibition of original artwork by Erased Tapes Records, in the AB Resto from 2 May to 15 June.
Erased Tapes was established in London in 2007 and now operates out of London and Berlin. The label has become the homebase for innovative artists such as Ălafur Arnalds, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Nils Frahm, Peter Broderick and Lubomyr Melnyk.
In the 6 years of its existence, Erased Tapes has grown into one of the most important labels in contemporary groundbreaking music, going from minimalism and contemporary classical to magical mellow-tronica and orchestral drumân bass.
Each new release (more than 40 now) makes clear that the label has an intimate bond with its artists and that the music and the artistic project are of primary importance, and that the business aspect is secondary. Something that is, unfortunately, becoming rare in the current musical scene.
Right from the start, with their first releases, Erased Tapes has always given high priority to the artwork of what they issue. Despite working with various different designers and graphic artists, they succeed (just like the likes of 4AD, Rune Grammofon, Touch. or Type Records) in creating an own, recognizable style.
The covers exhibited, in the 3 familiar vinyl formats (12â, 10â and 7â), are then also artworks in themselves and for that reason alone it's already worth dropping in to the AB Resto or, even better, to the record store for your own copy.
The expo can be viewed until 15 June in the AB Resto, Steenstraat 23, Brussels.
