Now that the summer of 2023 slowly comes to an end, AB swings it doors wide open once again. We enthusiastically present you with our new concert calendar!
This week, we present our Jazz programme. There will be dancing happening again in AB this year too! So we’ll include some party tips.
Next week, you can read more about the punk wind blowing over from the other side of the Channel and we’ll introduce our hip-hop concerts.
Welcome back!
Again this year: exciting, danceable and progressive jazz bands on stage at AB!
Our artistic director and notorious jazz-enthusiast Kurt Overbergh describes it like this: "The jazz tentacles are reaching further than ever in recent years! Thus, in the AB autumn programme, jazz marries hip-hop, electronica, soul, psychedelia, classical, poetry (!) and embraces themes such as Afrofuturism and the black lives matter movement. In short: "Jazz is. Jazz is alive. Happens. Moves." (Jules Deelder)"
On Saturday 21 October, AB celebrates the 15th anniversary of innovative jazz label Gondwana.
To mark this 15th anniversary, the label is heading to AB with a full-blown musical caravan. ‘The AB has long been our spiritual home in Europe and regularly hosts Gondwana artists…’ After such fine words, we couldn’t refuse. Our slavish love of the label did the rest. On the programme: Hania Rani, Matthew Halsall, Svaneborg Kardyb and Jasmine Myra.
Mansur Brown exemplifies the prodigy: a classically trained guitarist, curator and multi-disciplinary artist. On 16 October this master guitarist will be performing his mix of jazz, club music and afrobeats at AB.
And we stay in the mix, as on Sunday 19 November Yazmin Lacey brings her sublime mix of Jazz, soul and electronica to the AB Club.

Even though we believe there’s no music genre you can’t dance to, the floor will mostly be shaking at these shows. PARTY!
Oliver Tree continues to amaze us with his unique universe. He perfects like no other his mix of rap, heartwarming melodies and synthpop laced with strong lyrics and whacky humour. Saturday 11 November he’ll be at AB, we’re already curious about his show!
Ravers of the universe, unite! This year too, dance nights will be organised in the AB Club under the banner of ‘braindance_’.
The first braindance_ sets the bar high from the start, as Sofia Kourtesis recently released her debut EP on Ninja Tune. This autumn, she will bring along her own live set for the first time. Dance Dance!
Korean-American singer and DJ Yaeji received a rare 8.5/10 from Pitchfork for her album ‘With a hammer’. Pitchfork: ‘It’s a generous, understated exploration of rage as a source of creative renewal.’ Beneath what at first glance appear to be upbeat dance tracks lurks a dark undercurrent of cynical lyrics about prejudice, anger and making the same mistakes as your parents. Let’s break the cycle!
