This year Hip-Hop will have been around for 50 years, and we’re going to celebrate that throughout the concert season! Later more (much more) about this festive year, but here is a selection of some not-to-be-missed Hip-Hop artists. Let's go for the solid starting shot on Sunday, 17.09 - because that's when AB is in FLAMMES.
On Car-Free Sunday in Brussels – AB throws open its doors for the block party of the year. We’ll set the Anspachlaan aflame with an all-female hip-hop line-up curated by Emee..
BOB VYLAN - FR 27 OCT 23
PEET - FR 24 NOV 23
Peet (Le 77) is a pivotal figure in the Brussels rap scene. A true DIY musician: he’s a rapper, beatmaker, and he records everything in his own studio.
BALOJI - TUE 19 MAR 24
Baloji (ex-Starflam) is still that brilliant Belgian rapper of Congolese origin who has already worked with Damon Albarn’s Africa Express and many others. Baloji presents AUGURE, his new album consisting of no less than 4 EPs.
Is it turning autumn already or is there a cool punk vibe blowing over from the other side of The Channel?
SQUID - THU 7 SEP 23
Squid hovers somewhere between post-punk and krautrock, with occasional psychedelic touches. One of the coolest and most innovative bands the UK has produced for ages!
HIGH VIS - SUN 15 OCT 23
According to De Standaard, English postpunk/hardcore band High Vis forced a breakthrough at Pukkelpop.
DEADLETTER - SUN 22 OKT 23
Post-punk sextet Deadletter from South London is then mandatory fodder for fans of Gang Of Four, The Fall, The Rapture and LCD Soundsystem. Anyone who saw them at work on BRDCST was already won over.
THE MURLOCS - FR 22 SEP 23
King Gizzard side project releases new record: Calm Ya Farm
Calm Ya Farm is the name of The Murlocs' now 7th album. The Australian Psychedelica / garage rock band including 2 members of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, come to the other side of the world after 4 years for a musical guitar trip!
“King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard heeft nog nooit van hokjes gehoord en speelde het strakste, strafste concert van deze editie. Hands down. Want in de 14 keer dat ik ze intussen zag, speelden ze slechts een enkele keer hetzelfde nummer. Elk concert compleet anders, en elk concert weer die onwaarschijnlijke muzikale trip.” (collega Peter Deckers over King Gizzard op Pukkelpop)
