American painter Gregory Euclide, known for (amongst other things) the artwork of the latest Bon Iver album, was on a brief European tour last week with Lubomyr Melnyk.
On Sunday 19 May he dropped by AB as a part of Silence Is Sexy, where Lubomyr Melnyk played a double concert with labelmate Nils Frahm. During the Melnyk concert, Euclide created a painting that was inspired by the music being played on stage at AB.
The artwork is 2.30m x 1.20m and was created by working with Japanese Sumi ink on a porcelain coated steel sheet, using water, sponges, stencils, rags, paintbrushes and other materials. The result is a wonderful, magical landscape that perfectly captures the mood of Melnyk’s music.
Over the coming weeks you can come admire this work of art in the
