On Saturday 21 December, AB’s electronica concept Braindance steps outside the familiar surroundings of the Club and takes over the AB Complex for an XL edition. We’re going all out, all night long. On the bill of fare: innovative electronica acts and progressive DJs, completed by a top-rate show. Basically: AB as pop-up nightclub elevates you to higher planes.
박혜진 park hye jin may just be one of the best kept secrets of the Korean house scene, often also referred to as K-house. The 25-year-old Korean is a woman of many talents. As singer, rapper and house & techno DJ, she combines elements of dreamy house, raw hip-hop and psychedelic darkwave. This – in combination with self-supplied English and Korean vocals, dreamy synths and pounding 4/4 beats – results in a sophisticated listening and dance experience.
The best evidence of this is debut EP ‘IF U WANT IT’, with which she broke through in early 2019. Leftfield soundscapes cooperate with misty piano parts and are driven by big beats. “I DON’T CARE” and “ABC" are absolute gems. Resistance is futile.
It is no coincidence that the rise of this new underground sensation is paired with the increasing popularity of ‘K-house’. Together with colleague Peggy Gou, she makes it clear that this is one of the genres to take into account in the future.
박혜진 park hye jin plays at Braindance on Saturday 21 December after previous visits to the likes of Melt! Festival, Dour Festival, Boiler Room and Circoloco. Also playing: Modeselektor (live), Le Motel, Catnapp, Palmbomen 2 and many more.
