Many fellow country folk on stage in AB!
The music industry, a man’s world? Our leading Belgian ladies have other ideas about that! Indie-queen Tsar B (04/05) has been the Belgian hype of the last few months, with her dark R&B, whilst the solo-pop-project of Netsky live-singer Billie (07/05) is really starting to boom now. Debut ‘Night By Night’ by Soldier’s Heart (AB Club, 29/04) was also a bull’s-eye and SX (30/04) has been soaring to new heights too, with single ‘Hurts’.
The Belgian electronica scene is experiencing a golden age, with greats like Goose (22/04) and the debut album of Compact Disk Dummies (11/05). Promising acts like Lost Frequencies (06/05) are meeting all expectations, and Warhola (06/04) has also delivered a pearl of an EP.
There are even more great names to be spotted in AB over the coming months, with Arno (16/05), three times Kommil Foo (10-11/06, 26/06), and pride-of-Limburg The Sore Losers (15/04). As if that weren’t enough, Hooverphonic (06/04) will also pass in revue!
The many double-bills in AB indicate that Belgians have many friends. Most-wanted producer Jasper Maekelberg brings along the friends from Témé Tan with his Faces On TV project (14/05), West-Flemish hip-hoppers Ertebrekers and Brihang (23/04) are best of mates, and a wonderful billing with Marble Sounds and Ansatz Der Maschine (31/05) will also present in AB.
The friends from HUMO give a party to celebrate their 20th edition – with The Van Jets, Noordkaap and Compact Disk Dummies (09/04) – the day after that will see the mother of all rock-rallys take place, with the one and only Humo’s Rock Rally (10/04).
A richly filled, varied and – above all – excellent Belgian programme on stage in AB. Surely we should then also establish that we Belgians aren’t the boring audience that neighbouring countries think we are. Get dancing!
