Job Description
AB’s operations and infrastructure are evolving. In 2025, works in the Steenstraat building will be completed, creating a new small concert room, community space, recording studio, kitchen, meeting rooms and roof terrace. To top it all off, in 2026, the new AB café will open in the building on the corner to the left of the main entrance.
As Facility Manager, you are responsible for these infrastructural projects and the day-to-day management, maintenance and safety of the entire building complex. You manage a team of employees and are a part of the management team.
Assignment
- You are independently responsible for the preparation, implementation and supervision of the current infrastructural projects. You do this in close collaboration with AB’s Building Manager, the Infrastructure Committee of the Flemish Community, architects and contractors.
- Together with the IT Coordinator and the external IT partner, you develop an innovative IT policy.
- You develop an ambitious vision on sustainable energy use, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as described in the Flemish Climate Strategy 2050. You are responsible for the development and implementation of an associated action plan.
- The safety of staff, audience and artists falls under your supervision. Together with the Building Manager/Internal Health & Safety Advisor, you identify health & safety risks, and develop a Global Health & Safety Plan and Annual Action Plans.
- You are responsible for the long-term planning based on a multi-year Maintenance Plan. You negotiate the contracts with maintenance firms and concession holders.
Profile
- First and foremost, you are a strong project manager. You are adept at bringing structure, priorities and clarity to complex dossiers. You bring together internal and external stakeholders, and ensure the efficient flow of communications.
- You have at least 5 years of technical and managerial experience. You are strategically strong in managing people, but also possess the necessary soft skills to coach, develop and motivate staff.
- You have good analytical abilities. You recognise important information, make connections, and comprehend problems in their full complexity.
- You have a Master’s Degree in the Engineering Sciences or Construction field, or have acquired equivalent knowledge through experience (architecture, ICT/electronic/electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, …).
- You have sufficient IT knowledge or are willing to gain it.
- You maintain high quality standards in your work, and strive to continue improving systems and procedures.
- As a member of the management team, you are genuinely involved in themes like sustainability, diversity, inclusion, local anchoring, … You know how to create support for these themes within your team.
- You have a good spoken and written knowledge of French and Dutch.
