AB has had its eye on the American Theatre for a while now. The American pavillion – built as a part of the Expo ’58 – is still located in the shadow of the iconic Atomium and positively radiates history. It was designed by the American architect Edward Durell Stone who designed the likes of The Radio City Music Hall and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
AB will have its spirit gad about in the American Theatre for a weekend by means of an exciting and sassy programme. In doing so, AB maintains the true purpose for which the American Theatre was created: accommodating concerts. They weren't small ones in '58 either: Jazz greats like Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Sarah Vaughan were only a few of the stars who shone there.
