BRDCST is AB’s brand new indoor spring festival, one whereby we focus on musical limitlessness. The name is a direct reference to the retro futuristic electronica-pop of English band Broadcast, which released inspiring albums like ‘Haha Sound’ and ‘Noise Made By The People’ over the past decade. Artists who feel strongly about musical innovation will form the centre of attention at BRDCST. Our musical gut feeling will do the rest.
Huis 23 – our living room with a capacity of 55 people – is the designated base of operations, where there will be free shows every day. We will also reveal a number of fine (familiar or less familiar) locations in the city each year. Lastly, each day, we will be totally engrossed in ‘a moment of wonder’ that we share with our visitors. We will invite artists, authors or music insiders for a chat to enlighten us about items that were inspirational while putting together our ideal line-up. That could be a brand new subgenre or, say, our respect for the fortune tellers of the famous Rough Trade Shop. Our amazement just has to be yours now.
The inaugural edition of BRDCST will take place from Thursday 24 March until Sunday 27 March 2016. The final evening will always be a mini-festival within the festival, and don’t be surprised if we suddenly put on a breakfast concert. Artists that have already confirmed their presence are: GoGo Penguin, Pomrad, De Beren Gieren, Visionist, Lotic, M.E.S.H., Battles, Mbongwana Star, PAUS, Fire!, Monnik, BARST, Daghraven, Broeder Dieleman, Joan Shelley, Cocaine Piss, Steve Ignorant (Crass), Tsembla, Pak Yan Lau, Michael Price Trio, Innerwoud,…
