It may have been quiet on the blog but it certainly wasn't in concert-land. Triggerfinger definitely proved that with 3 sold-out concerts.
Fantastic evening with a mighty energetic show! A pleasure for eye and ear.
Things calmed down a little for me after Triggerfinger, as there were exams to be taken too. The ideal relaxation in such hard times is of course to check out a concert here and there.
Hooverphonic was one of those gigs. This band (also) appeared twice in a sold-out hall. For new singer, Noémie Wolfs, it was the first really big concert.
A fantastically photogenic female, an impressive concert, a change of outfit, the well-known hits and a number of encores… A good start for the new Hooverphonic.
For the rest, I was really looking forward to Goose. I was really looking forward to the new songs they would perform but, of course, also to the well-known hits a bit too. The concert was good but the ‘light-show’ was simply tremendous.
While Goose gave it their best for the second time in the main hall, Sleigh Bells were in the club. This duo from Brooklyn were once able to play support to M.I.A. and she's been a total fan of the band ever since. Just like me! It was extremely difficult to take photos but I thoroughly enjoyed the concert!
Citizen Cope played an extremely intimate concert two days later. Only he and his guitar sent romantic songs reeling through the club on Valentine's Day. It was so intimate that the clicking of the camera could even disturb the performance. A number of goosebump moments and sing-alongs made this concert a topper.
There was also Iron & Wine. I hadn't heard of the band and now realize that was a shame. Quite simply beautiful.
Finally, on February 27 there was also Absynthe Minded. They toured all over Flanders with a number of ‘unplugged’ concerts, with as finale: the Ancienne Belgique. I was able to take a few group photos of them prior to the concert. I really looked forward to that as I'm a fan myself. It was short but sweet.
