There’s no AB without Belgian artists. That’s why, during ‘Belgian Music Week’, we’re wholeheartedly putting homegrown talent in the limelight.
In ‘Bloom Town’ we present inspiring, up-and-coming talent from Brussels. We drill down into their stories, talk to them about their vision for their music and give them a stage.
These are the 3 artists:
- Chibi Ichigo likes to blur the boundaries. She uses both Russian and Dutch in her caustic lyrics set to R&B beats. Like her earlier work, her most recent EP ‘BLOEI’ makes it clear that Sabina is a very promising hip-hop singer.
- In no time at all BRYN has emerged as Brussels’ top pop phenomenon. This young singer’s sound incorporates such influences as Tove Lo and Lorde. His promising first EP ‘Middle 8’ came out last year, and included the singles ‘A Degree’ and ‘Teenage Dream’.
- Ana Diaz weaves soul, jazz, hip-hop and flamenco together. She blends Spanish with Galician, French, Portuguese and English lyrics to create an individual sound that reflects the diversity of Brussels, her hometown.
Furthermore, AB looks back at a range of unforgettable live recordings of Belgian artists in the ‘Homegrown’ online series. Charlotte Adigéry, Arno, Whispering Sons, Brihang, Melanie De Biasio and Balthazar are just a few of the names in the series presented by Lisa Smolders.
Finally, throughout the week we will treat you to repeats of some legendary AB shows. For example, the first sold-out Brihang show and ‘Ceci n’est pas un livestream’ by Zwangere Guy!
The entire programme will be broadcast via the AB website, Facebook and PODIUM-19, the brand-new pop-up culture channel.
