1/ Out in the Street!
The first official, permanent murals in Europe to be based upon a LGBTQI theme will be revealed on the walls of the AB in the Lollepotstraat on May 1st.
“Rainbow House Brussels”, “Stad Brussel”, “Ancienne Belgique”, “VZW Urbana” and “huisvandeMens Brussel” have established a unique collaboration as a part of the PrideFestival2015.
Via the “Out in the street” project, graphic work by Fotini Tikkou (Greek portrait artist) and Ralf König (a prominent figure in the LGBT comic world) will receive a permanent place on the outer wall of AB in the Lollepotstraat as of Friday 1 May.
In a clear visual language, attention is called to LGBTQI issues of gender stereotyping and homophobic reactions to lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals and trans-genders in our society.
Reducing the strongly present stereotypical opinions and increasing the acceptance and respect for every person's gender identity is essential to these issues.
Together with the other partners - and within the universal battle against discrimination - AB wants this project to give a sign in defence of the rights of LGBTQI people and the associated sexual diversity.
2/ Rainbow-coloured Anspach facade:
From Thu 30/4 to Sun 17/5 our facade will bear the colours of the rainbow with the slogan ‘Celebrate diversity’.
3/ On 16 May, the day of the Pride, (gay) parents with children are welcome in AB Cafe+Huis 23:
With the support of the City of Brussels, Huis 23 + the AB café will become the gathering-place for gay-parents with children on the day of the Pride.
For the children, a wordless figure-theatre show entitled ‘Still’ will be organised in Huis 23.
