One of the most defiant and exciting musical genres of all time is celebrating its 50th birthday. AB & Proximus are therefore taking you on a virtual trip through the most iconic moments in AB’s hip-hop history. For example, did you know that Gil Scott Heron, Jay-Z, and Lil’ Kim have all graced our stage?
‘HIP-HOP 50: The Augmented Experience’ is an immersive, interactive journey through half a century of hip-hop in the centre of Brussels. With the aid of some digital magic, hip-hop fans standing in front of our building can delve deep into the archives of AB.
You’ll discover some incredible old concert posters and tickets from unforgettable shows, along with previously unseen images of famous and upcoming hip-hop talent. The words of legendary artists evoke the immense cultural and social importance of hip-hop. The only thing you need to take part in this augmented reality is your smartphone.
How does it work?
- Stand in front of AB's facade, on the other side of Boulevard Anspach. Are you ready? Good. Then you can launch the experience.

- Point your camera towards AB’s facade. As you scroll along a visual timeline, you will see memories of past hip-hop shows come to life.
- A surprise awaits you at the end of the experience. Take part in the competition and you could win a year of free AB concerts, thanks to Proximus! We’ll select a winner each month.
