Singer Koen Buyse's rock band, Zornik, has awoken from its self-induced hibernation. On 19 May the band will present its first single to the radio since late 2008. The powerful ‘Walk’ is forerunner to a new – for now untitled - studio album that is to be released at the end of the year.
Following a self-imposed sabbatical year, 15 months without a concert, and a previous album dating from 2007, band-members Koen Buyse, Bas Remans, Davy Deckmijn and Tom Barbier have an immense hunger for new work and new shows. ‘Just consider the sabbatical year as the silence before the storm because we're as keen as ever for the coming concerts and recording of our new album!’
In coming weeks, the band will be commuting between Los Angeles, where the video clip for ‘Walk’ is being recorded, and France, where the band retreats to continue work on what will be their fifth studio album. The launch will take place in the ABClub on 28 October. Those immediately expecting Zornik back in big concert halls and arenas have got something coming to them. To launch their new album, Zornik returns to its roots: an intimate ABClub where band and audience can literally look each other in the eye.
Zornik is one of Belgium's most successful bands of the past 10 years. With a Mia Award for Best Band, 4 times Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, countless radio hits, 13 TMF Awards, hundreds of concerts, 1 platinum and 3 gold albums... over the past decade, Zornik has proved itself more than worthy of its place in the Belgian rock scene.
