ZITA SWOON'S JUBILEE (15+ ANNIVERSARY)
"I feel within me the future
To play, to dream, to drift"
(Stef Kamil Carlens)
Stef Kamil Carlens and his band started their story 15 years ago. Originally as a Beatband, later as Moondog Jr and finally as Zita Swoon they signed off 11 outstanding albums, but it is especially their concerts that are etched into the minds of fans. This unique band is characterised by their playing pleasure, idiosyncrasy, musical craftsmanship and of course their unforgettable songs.
A compilation album will be released this fall: ‘To play, to dream, to drift, an anthology’ is a double-CD with a selection of highlights from their studio albums and a 2nd CD with many unreleased extra’s, from the their tender begin around 1991 right up to the current day.
The brand new website, with plenty of room to follow new developments, proves that it's too soon to say goodbye yet: www.zitaswoon.com (from 10 October). Those developments are on their way, just see the resumption of ‘Dancing with the sound hobbyist’ in 2010, the musical dance performance that they made in collaboration with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker of dance company Rosas. For the next two years, Zita Swoon with will be taking some time off from concert halls and festivals, to go travelling, in search of new impulses and influences, eventually resulting in a number of live and studio projects in which they'll enter into dialogue with kindred artistic spirits.
The band celebrates their 15+ jubilee – a pivotal moment in their career – with three live shows, in Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels respectively. They promise to be exceptional evenings: aside from a selection from their range of melancholy to groovy songs, the band also invites a number of friends including producer and sound-wizard John Parish (guest to the AB earlier this year with PJ Harvey) from Bristol, the surrealistic godfather of Belgian rock: Arno, and Stef Kamil’s old friend from dEUS: Tom Barman.
