Zara McFarlane is one of the latest discoveries made by famous DJ/producer Gilles Peterson. She has received a remarkable amount of attention with the two albums to her name – ‘Until Tomorrow’ (’11) and the recent ‘If You Knew Her’ (’14) – and has rightly been applied with the label ‘promising British jazz talent’. That label includes the word (spiritual) jazz, but in her music you will also notice the influence of dub and reggae. So it's no surprise then that Zara McFarlane was born 30 years ago to a Jamaican family.
