Zap Mama! Sparkling world-pop from Afropea! Those who have ever experienced them live surely know how inspiring this music really can be.
'Our' Zap Mama is of course especially Marie Daulne, pedigree performer with Congolese roots and always up for collaboratively creating beautiful things. That has already been the case since 1990, with the extremely original a capella Zap Mama, but even more so now, seven CDs on, with Erykah Badu in 'Bandy Bandy', with Michael Franti & Spearhead in 'High Low', with Arno in 'Toma Taboo' and this time now with Vincent - La Haine - Cassel in 'Paroles Paroles' (that's right, previously of Dalida and Alain Delon!)
'Iko Iko' was also another fine cover too. But recently it was yet again apparent that Marie Daulne also writes excellent songs herself, on the latest CD 'ReCreation' (once again with G Love, Bilal and even Sylvie & Sabine plus Tom Helsen as welcome guests). A CD that would seem to have been recorded all over the world, that sounds cosmopolitan, socially involved and sexy... and has one looking forward to this concert.
Or see here how beautifully honestly Marie Daulne explains it herself. All things considered, it would seem to be high-time for a fine compilation CD, don't you think?
