What a trip. Hypnotizing and the summum for those who love adventurous music. Xavier Rudd comes from Australia, but the world is his home, and its clear that the world must carry on for an eternity. Organic and healthy are the keywords here, but Xavier Rudd packages his messages very masterfully and honestly. Those who have already followed his course a little (i.e., from the AB to Bota to Dranouter and Esperenzah), then know what a deeply digging, committed but equally grooving and exciting musician he really is. Literally a multi-instrumentalist: he can play everything at the same time solo, with much respect for nature and the Aboriginal culture, so with didgeridoo (alias the yirdaki) plus percussion, harmonica and guitar (preferably the Weissenborn guitar.) You can still classify Xavier Rudd along side Ani DiFranco, Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter... in the inspired department. Following on from 'To Let', 'Solace', 'Good Spirit', 'Food In The Belly' and 'White Moth' now the staggering 'Dark Shades Of Blue', his new CD on the famous Anti-label - still too the stable of Tom Waits, Mavis Staples, Spearhead, Daniel Lanois... Good company, indeed, just like the sound of 'Dark Shades Of Blue' now also nestles more deeply between Jimi Hendrix and Ben Harper. Welcome to the rock underground, where retro meets roots, join & enjoy!
Support act will be the pale British revelation Ben Howard. Or in full: BENJAMIN JOHN HOWARD with his energetic guitar style and extremely unique voice.
