Hit-bound pop drenched in a pitch-dark eighties sound.
‘Suego Faults’, the debut by the British Max McElligott a.k.a. Wolf Gang has been drenched in superlatives. His ‘The King And All Of His Men’ is currently a big radio hit in our country, and his album contains even more pure ear worms like ‘Lions In Cages’ and ‘Dancing With The Devil’. ‘Suego Faults’ was recorded with Dave Fridmann in his studio (the ex-bassist of Mercury Rev who has also worked intensively with The Flaming Lips, MGMT and Tame Impala).
Willow, a six-member indie-rock band with roots in Leuven and Brussels, enthusiastically explores the border between pop and experiment. The late 80’s form a fertile feeding-ground for the band and their fresh mix of atmospheric riffs, warm synths, keen drum sections and fascinating melodies result in ingenious pop songs. Willow has been heading straight for 'young hero' status since 2009. That was when the six grabbed gold in the Flemish-Brabant pop competition Rockvonk. In 2010 it got even better: the jury of Humo’s Rock Rally endowed the band with third place and the audience topped that off with the KBC Audience Prize. What's more, in 2011, Willow were tipped by Studio Brussel as one of the five ‘Bands to make it in 2011’. In the meantime, unperturbed, Willow continues to work on a long-awaited first album.
