Bazart-member & musical octopus debuts with EP & single
Over the past year, singer, songwriter and musical octopus Oliver Symons has revealed himself to be one of our biggest Belgian pop talents, with tentacles in Dutch-language phenomenon Bazart and Humo’s Rock Rally laureate’14 Warhola (the true surname of pop-art artist Andy Warhol). In Warhola, he debuted last year with single ‘Unravel’ that was on every digital lip, generating praise from New York digital music-mag Pigeons and Planes all the way to our good old Humo: “zwanger van dramatiek, maar voorts samengesteld uit kaduke ketelslagerij, zoemende synths en over elkaar buitelende zangpartijen van frontman Oliver Symons”
Symons and his mates shift it up a gear this spring, with a debut EP and brand new single that – according to the press announcement – is built up around Oliver’s “unique vocals” in perfect symbiosis with “nervous electronic beats & atmospheric sounds.” That certainly sounds very promising and we’re curious to see if Warhola will take an equally high trajectory as Belgian toppers like Oscar & The Wolf (for whom they recently warmed up, in L’ Aéronef, Rijsel), Vuurwerk and Oliver’s very own Bazart… that all also hang out in the ultra-hip electro-pop universe.
