“Hallucinogenic pop for hallucinating times.” (De Standaard)
With Tame Impala, Ariel Pink, Foxygen and Jacco Gardner, there would seem to be no avoiding it: a wave of excellent – contemporary sounding – sixties psychedelica is waltzing through the indie-pop landscape. American resident New-Zealander Unknown Mortal Orchestra fits that profile perfectly.
With their second album ‘II’ they ensured wonderfully ramshackle, tingling LSD drenched ‘psych-soul'. Just call it: lo-fi psychedelica that seems to hail straight from the sixties and exudes both The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Grizzly Bear and Liars revealed themselves as fans by taking UMO along on tour and Humo praised them with a compelling *** ½-review. They've already impressed in a sold-out AB Club in ’13 and are now impatiently awaiting the release of their 3rd album.
