Flamenco Nuevo – star guitarist & ensemble!
Flamenco nuevo? Flamenco pur sang! With quite some jazz and fusion influences. Phenomenal (see: that ABflex from January 2013!)
Who's coming along too? On guitar: Tomatito, Jose Israel Fernandez, El Cristi.
Vocals: Mari Angeles Fernandez and Kiki Cortiñas. Percussion: El Moy, and dance, that's right: Paloma Fantova!
Tomatito hails from a productive musical nest. In the Spain of Flamenco and guitar, of course. Grandpa and pa were both already famed as 'El Tomate'. Several uncles also had richly filled careers. You couldn't find a more musical milieu.
José Fernandez Torres was born in Almeria in 1958 and soon grew up to be the next talented descendent, he came into contact with grandmasters like Paco De Lucia and El Lebrijano and so very soon became 'Tomatito.'
Mainly at the side of the legendary Camaron de la Isla, Tomatito knew immense success for almost 20 years long. Until the day the singer tragically died in 1992.
