Golden singer-songwriter returns to the essence.
With the extremely catchy 'Bow Beat' as last twitch, Tom Helsen concluded his successful career as pop-performer and decided to change tack. To do so, he returned to his roots and arrives at the end of the year with a sober singer-songwriter album entitled ‘Tom Is Doing Great Again’. Small, fragile and recorded with 1 microphone in a dark rehearsal room. A minimum of accompaniment and everything reduced to the essence. Yet in 2010 he released ‘The Truth About That Girl And Me’, an album on which he received the company of impressive singers like Marie Daulne, Hannelore Bedert and – really – Barbara Dex, who delivered the wonderful ‘I Am’ with him.
Spencer The Rover or Koen Renders is a jack-of-all-trades. Guitarist, pianist, singer, mentor and producer of young talent (see: Kid Fear) but nevertheless, in the first place and above all else, a pedigree songsmith. ‘The Accident’, the long awaited Spencer The Rover album has turned out to be a sublime masterpiece.
