In her own country, Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dico (real name: Tina Dickow) is a star. She effortlessly stole the awards for ‘Best Composer’ and ‘Best Songwriter’ at the Danish equivalent of the Grammys. Her latest albums also made double-platinum sales with ease. For a while, she moved to London where she worked with Zero 7 and could be heard as vocalist on their singles ‘Home’ and ‘The Space Between’. Her albums (of which the latest is a 3 EP trilogy: ‘A Beginning, A Detour, An Open Ending’) are all released on her own Finest Gramophone label.
Dico grew up on Bob Dylan, Donovan and Leonard Cohen, but Tracy Chapman changed her life: "Tracy Chapman gave it all some point. Hearing her music was a defining moment; it felt like I had a soul mate. She turned me on to the guitar and made me want to write my own songs." It has been noted.
