To celebrate their twentieth anniversary, the Northern Irish combo Therapy? have planned a whole range of special activities. Among them are a number of exclusive concerts during which the band will play their ‘Troublegum’ album from start to finish. This means you will hear some songs which have never, or rarely, been played live before. And the diverting description ‘+ more’ undoubtedly means a lot of other classics from the Therapy? discography will be aired.
‘Troublegum’ was the band’s second album for major label A&M Records and came out on 7 February 1994. It was a fairly dark and occasionally metallic album which contained a cover of ‘Isolation’ by Joy Division. ‘Troublegum’ is considered the artistic and commercial high point of the career of the band based around Andy Cairns and Michael McKeegan, and a million copies were sold.
Formed in 1989, Therapy? released their debut two years later. Their breakthrough in this country was the album 'Nurse' (the predecessor of ‘Troublegum’) and acquired massive status later with the single 'Nowhere', not forgetting their intense version of Hüsker Dü's 'Diane'.
In 2004 Driving Dead Girl was invited to perform at the Dour festival, a first important step to success. A first CD ‘50 000 Dead Girls Can't be wrong’ (Bang!) followed, with JF Hermand on drums and Andre Diaz on bass. In 2008 the future was not looking so bright until drummer Vincenzo Capizzi and bassist Daniel Diaz join the band. Then new proposals for support-acts presented themselves (for the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Lords of Altamont), concerts that uphold the band's excellent live reputation. In January 2010 the quartet began the production of a second CD ‘Don't Give a Damn about Bad Reputation’. 10 songs confirming their raw energy, influenced by film and literature and drenched in alcohol induced adventures of the amorous kind.
