Modern Blues, solid Folk-Rock
The Waterboys, that is Mike Scott & Co, of course: each and every one of them a virtuosos musician who seems to make playing together their life's work.
You're sure to know big hits like 'And A Bang On The Ear' or the indestructible 'Whole Of The Moon.' But The Waterboys do have more sources of inspiration than fierce folk-rock. 'Fisherman's Blues' sounded like a daring break in style, at the time, and there has always been room for gentle beauty à la 'How Long Will I Love You?' or 'Every Breath Is Yours'... up to and including their latest AB visit with the unique Yeats project.
Now with the again excellent 'Modern Blues' out via V2. Even just De Standaard alone: '4*/5... Fans zullen blij zijn met sterke melodieën... Ze zjn goed gearrangeerd met soms strijkers, dan weer gitaarvuur of een vurig Hammondorgel: steeds zoekend naar een passioneel en meeslepend gevoel.' And also: 'Tijd dat fans van The War On Drugs hem ontdekken.'
