Rock Rally winners, new CD, exclusive main hall concert!
The Van Jets are raging again. At the end of 2010 that happened in a full AB Box. After the summer – where they'll only be making a few exclusive festival appearances, at Pukkelpop and Leffingeleuren – now finally returning in 2012. There's also a new CD via PIAS that will be out by September. With as first, truly brilliant, single: 'Here Comes The Light.'
The Van Jets are still from Ostend, somewhere near England. You can hear that in their screaming guitar-rock sound. The four guys from The Van Jets have you listening to a keen mix. In every song you can hear all the very best of what the Angelo-saxon scene has been able to offer us: rock n roll, garage & glam-rock, boisterous ballads... But always oriented to 'The Future', just like it resounded in their biggest hit.
That single was from the previous, second CD ‘Cat Fit Fury’ and, on that subject, even just Charlie Poel in Humo: 'het vonkt, het knettert, de dadendrang spat ervan af...' Plus much more praise. Uncut vitriol live. If you need a reminder, then remember them closing ABBota in early 2010.
'The Van Jetset' still consists of the brother Johannes and Michael Verschaeve (vocals/guitar and drums), 'Wolf' Vanwymeersch (guitar) and Frederik Tampere (bass). They've been polishing up a new CD too. Sharp? Brace yourself for it!
They're probably already arguing about the title for the CD. But we've already heard that it: 'was canned with Jeroen De Pessemier of The Subs as producer... Everything still begins with a song but there is increasingly more experiment with electronica... the album was recorded in the Parisian studio of dance-legend Philippe Zdar (Cassius), and was mixed by Tchad Blake, who worked previously with rock heroes like The Black Keys, The Dandy Warhols and Tom Waits.' We can hardly wait!
