The new The Subs album entitled ‘Decontrol’ will be released on 28 March. The Subs have performed more than 160 shows, spread over 14 countries, since their impressive debut ‘Subculture’. The starring role was always set aside for frontman Papillon, the audience managed to seize 3 shoes and 2 pairs of trousers during his stage antics. What's more, last summer they signed to Partyharders for the summer-hit: ‘The Pope Of Dope’. They've spent half of the past 2 years in the studio and so the 11 song successor will be in stores soon.
This gang from Ghent is a sheer electro-rave-punk driven steam-train at top speed. The Subs celebrated 10 Years of Fabric in London with the exclusive digi-single ‘Mitshubitchi’ but also released the warmly received ‘Vomit In Style’ EP, with remixes by beautiful people like Mixhell, Don Rimini and Les Petits Pilous. They then got together with the latter for the double knock-out ‘My Body Is Gonna Remember’/’Rototom’. But they all agree about the most important step: their revelation as a real, outright live band. ‘Our live reputation is our DNA, our unique code’. There is room for variation on ‘Decontrol’: the too-cool for old-school house-bomb ‘Don’t Stop’, the hyper-active rave-jam ‘The Hype’, the pounding techno beats of ‘The Visible Man’ and the French-film soundtrack inspired ‘Hannibal (And The Battle Of Zama)’. ‘We make music for the shuffle generation’, concludes Papillon. ‘Decontrol’ contains a little of everything by at the same time forms a balanced whole. The album has a positive vibe, I can't wait to transfer that feeling to our audience’!
