You can all ‘Kiss My Trance’, 'cause ‘Music (by The Subs, of course!) Is the New Religion’ and ‘The Pope(s) Of Dope’ are totally back on ‘The Face Of The Planet’! ‘Don’t Stop’ (the music)! Hey presto, all the hits by our craziest Belgian electronica-trio, all summed up in one go.
Second album ‘Decontrol’, successor to ‘Subculture’ from 2008, already dates from 2011 and so the gents Pessemier, Lavogez and Loccufier (those names, pure poetry!) thought it was about time: new album ‘Hologram’ is ready and waiting, so feel free to dust off the merrymaker in you, but take it easy because the new The Subs promises to be more timeless, universal and poppy... with compelling soul, filmic French retro-futurism and brand-new beats as main ingredients.
They worked with a heap of guests who lent their vocal chords to the brand-new work, with impressive names like retro-soul icon Colonel Abrams, French actor Jean-Pierre Castaldi and our very own Selah Sue up front. They solemnly promise it's their most accessible and at the same time most experimental album to date!
All very exciting, The Subs go pop & soul, but there's one thing they've certainly not forgotten: how to turn the place upside down and party as if there's no tomorrow. Date for the better party-work is at the Anspachlaan 110!
1 man VS 4 machines! B(ert), who assaults the drum skins for Goose, falls back on the 'old school' method of having techno beats blaring out of the speakers on stage while entering into battle with two drum machines and just as many synths. “Forget EDM, ‘B’ is ready to party with strong ELM (Electronic Live Music)” was to be read in his biography and that's a good idea, as pacesetter for The Subs. Bottom line: Dance!
