Steven De Bruyn's harmonica/slide, bass & drums trio triumph
In late 2010 there was the stunning side-step with Roland Van Campenhout. That resulted in the wonderfully unpredictable ‘Fortune Cookie’. The big band from the extremely successful 'Join The Bus' album was temporarily shelved.
Now The Rhythm Junks pick up where they left off, employing the "less is more" principle. From now on it will be a testosteroned triumvirate of three gifted guys on bass, drums, harmonica & slide guitar.
They scratch and blow, polish and beat, soft and hard, elegant and raw. The songs, well they crackle more than they used to... The ideal band for Tom Waits' golden wedding anniversary, basically, or something like that.
The Rhythm Junks already made themselves memorable at the likes of North Sea Jazz (NL), Dour Festival (BE), World Harmonica Festival (DE), Blue Note Festival Gent (BE), BBW Nagoya (JAP) and JZ International Jazz Festival Shanghai (CN). Or somewhere closer to home?
Who and what we may expect from now on:
Steven De Bruyn - vocals, harmonica's, omnichord & resonator guitar
Jasper Hautekiet - vocals, double bass, hofner bass, keys
Tony Gyselinck - drums, electronic percussion
That'll be it. How about you! A new CD!
