The Me in You, a fivesome with roots in The Hageland, have opted for modest melodies and vocal harmonies their first album 'Forgotten Clothes' (release: 10/02/'12, Noisesome recordings). The band came into being in 2009 and were anchored in musical heritage, right from the start, with a mix of influences ranging from The Byrds to Sparklehorse. First single āGirl in Armourā was picked up by Studio Brussel and then hibernated in De Afrekening. Dutch music mag Oor appeared to be charmed by The Me in You, about āGirl In Armourā was said: 'It overflows with summer-evening nostalgia, a song to have special memories of.ā
Songwriter Piet De Pessemier had been thinking about making a solo album for a while. The first tangible ideas came about while mixing the album for his band Krakow, in 2009. At the time, making a solo album couldn't be combined with Krakow touring, which meant that De Pessemier had to stow his plans away for a while. But it was in his blood and so he decided to put Krakow on hold for a while in order to concentrate on his first solo album, under the name Mad About Mountains. He worked for months on end on songs inspired by songwriters like Townes van Zandt, Neil Young and others. The result is an album that goes back to basics. No special effects, no soundscapes or samples but rather a collection of āfirst takesā and live recordings to enhance the mood. The sound of an open hearth and the intimacy are discernible throughout the entire album.
