British indie-pop heroes return with funky single ‘Down’!
Warning: Smoking Ban inspection
Since 1 January 2006 it has no longer been permitted to smoke in public places, so not in AB either. After consultation between AB and the Federal Department of Public Health, Food-Chain Safety and the Environment, there will be a number of inspections carried out in the AB during the concert by the Public Health department.
The Kooks stirred things up again in 2013, with new songs, and what arose this time tasted slightly different to the frivolous indie-pop for which the quartet from Brighton (UK) is known. Forerunner of album number four, ‘Down’, was recorded with hip-hop producer Inflo and sounds fairly funky, with a big wink to r&b and finished with an easily digestible pop-sauce.
At the end of April there will be even more new material and then we'll be able to clearly hear which musical direction songsmith Luke Pritchard and his henchmen have headed in. Isn't it remarkable how a band like The Kooks – with poppy worldwide hits like ‘Naïve’, ‘She Moves In Her Own Way’, ‘Ooh La’, ‘Sway’ and ‘Junk Of The Heart’ to their name – isn't afraid to take the risk of heading in a new direction.
After two jam-packed AB’s in ’06 and ’08, the gents are keen to regain their position at the top of the extensive list of British pop-bands again. There where they belong!
Johnny Lloyd, a duo from London, kicks it all off with a portion of fresh pop-rock as warmer upper!
