Exclusive concert by indie rock supergroup
Indie rock supergroup The Hard Quartet – with Pavement's Stephen Malkmus, Chavez / Superwolves' Matt Sweeney, Dirty Three's Jim White and Bonnie Prince Billy / Ty Segall-alumnus Emmett Kelly – play a unique concert at AB Club. They present the highly acclaimed debut album they recently released on American label Matador.
“On its self-titled debut, the quartet cracks open the rock’n’roll canon to rebuild it in its communal, irreverent image….The record traverses prog-rock epics, spit-shined power pop, gnarled punk, and baroque folk, flexing the vocal and instrumental personalities each member has developed over decades of road-tested rock…. The Hard Quartet beats with an insatiable hunger to grow in new directions, rather than retread the past.” - Pitchfork
“Rather than being a cosy back-slapping exercise, these veterans have brought the best out of each other.” - The Guardian
Nathan Roche (Le Villejuif Underground) & Paul Bonnet (Disposition Matrix) craft a fleeting, lo-fi soundscape blending spoken word, deconstructed guitar, and synth adventures—like William S. Burroughs meets The Flaming Tunes. As CIA Debutante, they reshape post-punk/experimental remnants into abstract forms. With four LPs on Siltbreeze Records, they've toured Europe, Japan, and China, playing iconic venues like Café Oto and Cave12. Their improvisational vortex has seen them alongside The Dead C, Protomartyr, and Exek. They deconstruct modern sound, exposing and satirizing the ghosts in the machine.
