Coca-Cola Sessions
Following their spacey EP ‘Phone Home’ adventure, The Galacticos are now back with a vengeance! ‘Aunt Mary’ is the brand new single that serves as first course for the first complete album ‘Paint The Town Rad’. For those guilty of forgetfulness: The Galacticos (winner of Limbomania – finalist in Humo’s Rock) present high-school rock with catchy songs and infectious guitar riffs. Their ‘Phone Home’ was treated to extremely fine reviews. Humo: ‘If we had a car then this album would continually resound from the speakers: the effervescent pop songs possess catchy melodies, powerful hooks and refrains that beg to be shouted along to’. The singles ‘Humble Crumble’, ‘He said, She said’ and ‘I’m with my girl’ have all camped in the Studio Brussel CD-player. So it's high time for an even better sounding new album that maybe even sounds a little more mature. In late 2010, armed with new songs, they headed into the studio to record their first full album with producer Pascal Deweze (Broken Glass Heroes, Sukilove). ‘Paint The Town Rad’ is an album heavily laced with sixties-sound and bursting with catchy riffs.
The Future Dead are 5 guys from Ghent with a predilection for slightly damaged pop music. Their debut album will be released in February, is titled ‘Ways Of New Amusement’ and contains twelve sullen/cheery pop songs. Call it bubblegum … shoegaze … slacker … pop. The album was produced by unpublished duo Pascal Deweze and Jeroen Swinnen, who have together won enough spurs for three. Mixer was Jamie Watson, known from the likes of Mogwai, Mark E. Smith and The Vaselines.
Coca-Cola Sessions? Our refreshing structural partner, whose name is hidden in the title, has been providing 9 extra Club concerts to support debuting Belgian talent since the '09-'10 concert season. All for a beautiful and youthful audience. What's more, in the first press release we wrote: ‘Do you already want to discover the performer who'll be closing Herman Schueremans garden party in a few years’? That sentence really did turn out to be visionary, as both Balthazar and Customs already appeared at Rock Werchter last summer.
We've already presented another new series of much talked about Coca-Cola Sessions this season, with sold out concerts by Arquettes, The Tellers, Addicted Kru Sound feat. Selah Sue and Netsky. As of this season, each session will be supplemented by reports, to be viewed on ABtv and Moodio.tv. In the first part of 2011 it'll be the turn of the likes of The Galacticos, Steak Number Eight and Intergalactic Lovers.
