The Black Box Revelation is not only our favourite Belgian duo but also the hottest, steamiest, rock 'n' roll garage band of the Low Lands. We can be pretty damned proud of devilish duo Jan Paternoster and Dries Van Dijck. In past years, they've played Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop and gigged their way through the UK and the States. dEUS and Ghinzu have taken them in tow too. Every single from their début ‘Set Your Head On Fire’ (from 2007 already) was a hefty Studio Brussel hit.
In recent months, BBR headed in to the studio (only) twice to record their second album, ‘Silver Threats’. Nice detail: that studio – Konk in London – is run by no one less than Ray Davies (The Kinks). According to the band, and noted by an NME journalist: "The songs on this second album are exciting and catchy but at the same time raw and bluesy". We definitely don't doubt it for a moment.
For those who find waiting for this exclusive spring show unbearable, and who really can't resist: you can keep yourself occupied with a The Black Box Revelation photo-book (with photos by Eddy Petroons) and a live-DVD of the BBR performance at Pukkelpop earlier this year. Hail hail rock 'n' roll.
Support act will be the highly praised Band of Skulls. Their latest album 'Darling Doll Face Honey' deals in venomous garage-rock and livid, The White Stripes indebted blues. De Morgen recently wrote of them: "These British blues junks certainly know how to rewrite music history."
