The Antlers, Brooklyn's latest offspring, shone recently at Crossing Border in Antwerp. Their album ‘Hospice’ also got quite a bit of recognition in all sorts of publications, such as Focus Knack: ‘de meest beklijvende postrockplaat van het jaar’. On this album, the Antlers do indeed flee the folky scene in which they were housed with their first 2 EP’s ‘Cold War’ and ‘New York Hospitals’ .
Initially, singer/guitarist Peter Silberman did it all alone, releasing debut ‘In The Attic Of The Universe’ under his own name. Later he got to know drummer Michael Lerner and multi-instrumentalist Darby Cicci, they released ‘Hospice’ themselves and, in record time, the band had sold every copy. In the meantime they've signed to America's French Kiss Records (see too: Passion Pit, The Hold Steady) and that tasty album is also available here (via PIAS).
